Born in Malaysia, and growing up on the mainland side of Penang, AB made his mark as a young badminton player when he emerged as the Selangor State Junior Champion. He also won the Malaysian National U-15 Boys Singles Silver Medal, and the Malaysian National U-21 Boys Singles Silver Medal. He was also a member of the Project 88 national backup selection team.

Asok was awarded an athletic scholarship by Arizona State University where he studied Computer Systems Engineering. While pursuing his degree, he represented the US National Badminton team in 1992.

Upon graduation, he worked as a software engineer in technology companies in Malaysia, Arizona & later San Francisco, establishing his career as a product strategist in fintech, leading the technical and product design of some of the world’s largest payments systems, such as PayPal and American Express.

Asok’s career took him and his family to Sydney in 2014 and again in 2016, where he was Head of Product at BigCommerce, Domain Group, and Prospa, developing innovative technology based solutions.

He is taking an extended break to focus on Roketto, going back to his badminton roots, and tapping on his professional playing and corporate experience to create and run a centre that meets his own high standards for badminton.

KT is a marketing specialist from Singapore. After obtaining her first degree in English Literature from the National University of Singapore, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communications.

Kate spent most of her career working in American multinational agencies in Singapore. She began her marketing career at advertising agency J. Walter Thompson, and rose through the ranks to be Research Director at market research agency, AC Nielsen. In search of work-life balance after years of juggling the demands of a corporate job with raising a young family, Kate started her own qualitative research agency. She ran it successfully for seven years, serving multi-national clients, before moving to Sydney with her family.

Kate was introduced to badminton late in her life and fell in love with the sport. She is a passionate social badminton player who constantly strives to improve her game. Kate has previously managed a professional badminton league, the Malaysia Purple League, as Marcomm Director. She has also been involved in the Australian Badminton Open since 2014 as Line Judge Coordinator, and more recently, as Marketing & Media Manager, where she enjoys utilising her project management skills to organise a large international event.

GR grew up in Malaysia and has been involved in badminton for a very long time and got involved in badminton more seriously when he met Sze Yu (former top international player) in university in Australia. He later helped Sze Yu move to Malaysia to train. GR’s background is in accounting and he became the General Secretary of Badminton Association of Malaysia. He later became the General Manager and COO of BWF before leaving and moving to Australia.
